Harvest: 2003
Variety: 100% Garnatxa Negre
Alcohol content: 15º vol.
Production: 10000 bottles of 50 cl.
Elaboration: The grapes are harvested by hand when they reach the optimum grade of ripeness. They are macerated and smothered with a slight addition of alcohol (10 % approximately) at the beginning of fermentation. When the period of time deemed advisable has gone by, the grapes are squeezed. The wine is kept in tanks for a year and then transferred to chestnut tree barrels until it acquires its complexity.
Consumption temperature: 12° - 15°C
Tasting notes: Intense dark red wine. To the nose, powerful smell of ripe fruit and sweets infused with slight hints of toasty aromas. Sweet, complex, long and persistent palate where the balance sweet-tannin becomes particularly noticeable, giving way to new flavours and aromas while savouring it and greatly improving throughout its ageing. Ideal as an aperitif with Roquefort cheese. It compliments bakery desserts, bunyols –typical Ampurdan fritters- and chocolate especially well.
Production area: The vines are part of the seal of quality D.O. ‘EMPORDÀ’. They are located on the high part of the Ampurdan plain, on the range foot, creeping up the hills and spurs of Serra de la Baga de Ferran and at the beginning of Serra de l’Albera.
